It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.
True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.
Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.
First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.
Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.
The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.
These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

In my own house growing up, we had a large storage room under our garage where we kept all kinds of food and other supplies for the family. I want to talk to you about how we can get the best value out of our food storage investment. I believe in keeping it simple. With our current economy we need to stretch every dollar to take care of our families. So, let’s keep it simple and focus on the following topics:Defining short term and long term food storageWhat should I get first?Filling out your food storage: identifying gaps and filling them.Short term food storageDivide your food storage into two categories: short term and long term. Almost everybody has some amount of short term food storage. Short term food storage is food that will store for 2 years or less. Typically, this is food that you purchased at your local grocer and already have in your pantry. It includes items such as canned food, dry prepared foods and cooking basics. Pretty much everything in your pantry will store for at least 2 years. This constitutes your short term food storage.You should have at least a 2 week supply of short term food storage. Are You Afraid..?

These are some wise words originally spoken by FDR, and I happen to think there's a LOT of truth to that statement:
The only thing we should EVER be afraid of is simply being too afraid to act.
FEAR is the main cause of so much ... bad stuff in our lives. We settle because of fear. We give up because of fear.
Fear can get us killed. Exhibit A...
Are you familiar with the show, "The Biggest Loser"? My wife started watching episodes online a couple months ago, and we actually got into it.
I'm a firm believer that everybody has a few big battles in life- some are just easier to hide than others. Well, for the folks on this show, their big battle was their weight.
It's basically a show where people are professionally trained, and compete to see who can cut the most weight in a healthy way.
The one thing I kept hearing over and over was this: "The BIGGEST challenge was to get over the FEAR of working to lose a bunch of weight... when I did that, the rest was all down hill."
Do you see the significance of that? The mental block known as FEAR was causing these people to live lives they weren't happy with.
My goal with this email is this: Especially as Armed Citizens- but simply as human beings, it is vital that we learn to manage our fears.
What kind of fear am I talking about?
ALL fears.
Whether they are long-term fears, as in the folks on The Biggest Loser, or short-term fears, such as the fear that might overtake you when you hear a ground-level window in your house shatter at 2:00AM.
A HUGE part of this is the use of positive self talk. This is what I mean:
If being around people made me nervous, hiding behind a pile of food is not the answer (like one of the contestants on The Biggest Loser did).
The answer would be to tell myself over and over, that: "I am an interesting person who has a lot to offer- I don't NEED to hide."
And if the idea of walking alone through a dark parking lot wracks your nerves, convince yourself that:
You are STRONG, AWARE, you are completely capable of defending yourself, and you will NEVER stop fighting until you have won.
Friend, I hope you will practice this positive self talk in the same way that you practice with your self-defense tools. They have made a HUGE difference in my life, and in the lives of many others.

I surely didn’t!Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210million in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 millionmore than the AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executiveshave already been awarded $51 million – not a bad take. Whoauthorized that and why haven’t you expressed your outrage at thisgroup who are largely responsible for the economic mess we have rightnow.I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and notcaring about what you idiots do. I'd rather have one and not need it

"I'd rather have one and not need it..."
As people who carry concealed for self defense, we basically live by that saying.
We plan our wardrobe, our errands, our vacations, our leisure activities, and even our business matters around the whole idea of being prepared and making intentional, well thought-out decisions.
Think about how this applies to every aspect of your life- not just the fact that you carry a gun.
...or at least... how it should apply to the other aspects of your life- it's a mistake I had been making for the last year without even realizing it.
Exhibit A...
This morning, I sat down, fired up my laptop, and prepared for a productive day.
Things were going great, until about 10:30am, when I realized that my laptop was almost out of battery.
This would have been fine, except for my laptop was plugged in. I looked at the AC Adapter down on the floor, and the little green light was off.
"Bummer- I guess the breaker blew, or something.... but wait a minute- the lamp is still on." I thought.
So, I reached down to pick the adapter up- thinking that I must have somehow disconnected the wall-cord from the adapter unit.
The fingers on my left hand wrapped around the adapter, and about half a second later I realized that I was holding onto what felt like a piece of steel that had just been welded!! Ouch!
I hollered something and dropped it. Uh oh... it was fried.
Thankfully, the unit must have been designed to not harm the laptop in the event of a failure.
I hovered my mouse over the little battery icon.
"20 minutes remaining..."
That was when I started to freak out a little bit. See, my laptop is only a year old, and I have great support through Dell- but "great support" doesn't help me when they are based in Kansas, or wherever.
It hit me like a ton of bricks: My power supply was dead, and the BEST I could hope for from Dell would be for them to over-night a replacement. The WORST would be a 3 to 5 day delivery... and even if they did over night the replacement, my entire day, and probably most of my day tomorrow would be shot.
*Gulp*
I had planned for computer failure. I installed my operating system on a spare hard-drive and packed it into a fire-safe, so that if my drive died, I could just pop the spare in and go. I also back up my data every few days- and I thought that meant that I was covered.
But I had never considered the possibility of my power supply failing.
Without a power supply, all the preparations I had made were useless.
It was like the classic "all the food I can eat with no can-opener" sort of thing.
The point I'm trying to make here is that I'd like for you to take a step back, and think hard about all the areas in your life where you've made preparations or set up safe-guards, but may have overlooked some small detail.
Have you made an elaborate fire-escape plan, but never considered what to do if your escape route is somehow blocked?
Have you made self-sufficiency plans, but forgot to make a back-up plan for in case your generator breaks down?
Have you stocked up on ammunition and magazines, forgetting that springs and firing pins break, and bolt-carriers crack?
I'm not asking you to go overboard- but I certainty wouldn't consider having a second $60 power adapter for the laptop that you depend completely upon going overboard- would you?
How about a few spare parts for that rifle? Or a new set of gaskets, plugs, and wires for that generator? Or one of those ladders that you can throw out of your second story bedroom window to use as an alternate escape in case of a fire?
Thankfully, my failure to consider ALL possible failure-scenarios regarding my computer had a happy ending.
I found a computer store within one mile of my location where I could buy an adapter for $70, and had my laptop plugged back in before the battery had even died.
I am just glad I wasn't on an important trip...

In 2008, the IRS was wrong on questions concerning tax law about 10 percent of the time. Myriads of accountants and lawyers are employed to decipher the cryptic tax code. 3. The IRS is Too Big.The IRS employed 90,647 people in 2008. It had operating costs of $11,207,223,000. If we simplified the code, then many of those IRS employees could go into more productive lines of work, rather than checking up on whether or not the correct amount of money was extracted from hard working Americans. 4. The Code Corrupts the Culture in Washington. DC.Lobbying is the biggest business in Washington. About $3.2 billion was spent in the 2008 on lobbying. Many, if not the majority, of America's 15,139 registered lobbyists are working on increasing the level of complication of the tax code by fighting for special loopholes and regulations that will save their company money or put their competitors out of business. Yet lobbying and ethics reform too often focuses on the symptoms, like gift bans, instead of the underlying cause. What would be America's single most effective move to clean up the swamp of special interests in Washington? Scrapping the code and replacing it with a fair and simple one. 5. The Code Taxes Some Income Two or More Times.Our code taxes certain types of income twice. For instance, a company pays taxes on dividends that it pays out and then when stock holders earn money from the dividends, they pay taxes on them again. When government taxes particular types of income more than others, it distorts the market economy by punishing certain kinds of behavior with double taxation. 6. Congress Uses the Tax Code to Legislate Morality.Congress, with its recent passage of the SCHIP bill, raised taxes on cigarettes by 61 cents per pack. Our corrupt and easily manipulated tax system allows members of Congress to pass laws that increase the cost of certain behavior. In the case of SCHIP, they targeted smoking. In the case of AIG, they targeted bonuses. Frightening precedents are being set by Congress this session that will likely lead to even more explicit penalties for certain industries. President Obama claims that he will place a cap-and-trade tax on industry that will eliminate construction of any new coal power plants. Under a fairer and less easily manipulated tax system, government couldn't pick winning and losing industries as we have witnessed recently. Please help bring reform by contributing to our campaign!
7. High Marginal Tax Rates Penalize Success.Marginal income taxes are higher for each dollar workers earn. Our most productive members of society face federal taxes of 36 percent or higher. Under our system, the top 10 percent income earners pay 70 percent of federal income taxes. The president plans to increase top marginal rates to at least 39 percent--and that's not even counting state income tax rates. In virtually every state in the country, high income workers would face top marginal tax rates that would rob them of more than 50 percent of their income. Our current code destroys the incentive of the most productive to work hard. Shouldn't we be trying to give incentive to the most productive to continue working rather than taxing so much of their income away that they no longer think it's worth working hard? How many inventions or cures for diseases have we lost because the most productive stopped working when faced with 50 percent or higher rates on each additional hour of work? 8. Complying with the Code Costs Americans Billions.Compliance is a multi-billion dollar industry and 59 percent of all individuals filing taxes hire someone else to do it for them totaling to 81 million returns done by accountants last year. If we scrapped the tax code for a simpler one, people could fill out their tax forms easily. The sum total benefit could be billions of dollars. All those accountants and lawyers who make their living off the level of complication of the tax code could go into more productive work that would benefit all Americans. Compliance weighs more heavily on the poor--making our tax code more regressive than it appears. Taxpayers with adjusted gross income (AGI) under $20,000 pay 5.9 percent in compliance costs while those with an AGI of over $200,000 pay .5 percent of their income for compliance. 9. The Code Drives Political DonationsThe Congressmen on the House Ways and Means Committee Received $55,157,458 in the 2008 Election Cycle. The Ways and Means Committee deals with taxes. It's responsible for "raising the revenue required to finance the Federal Government. This includes individual and corporate income taxes, excise taxes, estate taxes, gift taxes, and other miscellaneous taxes." It's the busiest committee and its membership during the 2008 election cycle received $55,157,458 in campaign contributions. If we scrapped the code, the committee members would lose their power to manipulate the code in order to pay off their campaign contributors. 10. Laws Should Rest on Principles of Justice.The tax code is modified every few years along no reasonable principle. The code is arbitrary and unpredictable, and is morphing from its stated purpose-- efficiently raising government revenue-- into an instrument that Congress uses to instill fear, punishment, and political control. The code should be scrapped and replaced with a more just system based on principles of fairness and equality before the law rather than on the whim of lobbyists and lawmakers.

As you know, cases of the Swine Flu have begun to appear, first in Mexico, then the U.S. and now around the world. Back in 2006 we had the Bird Flu scare and without extreme measures being taken in Asia we would have had a worldwide flu pandemic. A pandemic is defined as an “epidemic over a large area” typically involving multiple countries if not the world. In the case of the Swine Flu, it is occurring around the world due to the ease of worldwide travel. As we have been told, this could easily turn into a pandemic flu that impacts the world as a whole.I recommend that you regularly go to the www.CDC.gov website (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) to review their updates on the Swine Flu. I am not a doctor or scientist who studies viruses, but they have experts that do. You will get your best, most accurate information there. Getting your information only from the news media might induce unnecessary fear or complacency. Right now, it is especially critical that you get your info from reliable sources.One of the biggest challenges with a pandemic flu situation is the possibility of a quarantine being imposed. Typically a quarantine is imposed within a limited area like a home, neighborhood or city (like with Mexico City). During quarantine you will need to be prepared to remain indoors with your family for a period of days or multiple weeks. That means you will be relying in part on your Shelter in Place supplies to help you get through that time. With that in mind here are some items I would make sure you have on hand:Respirator Masks – Have at least a good N95 mask, not just a simple dust mask. A mask will prevent germs carried in the air to enter your body. Keep in mind a mask is only as good as the seal it creates around your nose and mouth. I recommend that you change your N95 mask daily. N95 is a rating provided by NIOSH (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) which is a division of the CDC, and it means that 95% of all particulates that are .2 microns or larger will not penetrate the mask. An N100 rating means the respirator will prevent 100% off all particulates that are .2 microns or larger from passing through the respirator. One major issue to consider with any mask or respirator is that over a period of a few days you will have build on the outside of the mask that can slough off onto your clothes. So change your masks regularly.Here is a great article explaining the difference between an N95 respirator and a basic surgical mask: "Respirators for Public Health Emergencies"TWO WEEK FOOD SUPPLY – Have at least 2 weeks worth of food in your pantry or stored food. You may not be able to get to the store or the store may not get replenished as workers are unable to get restock. So make sure you have plenty of food.STORE CLEAN WATER – Just in case the water supply gets contaminated, make sure you also have a 2 week supply of stored water on hand. 1 gallon of water per person per day.FIRST-AID, HYGIENE AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES – Because hospitals and medical facilities get overwhelmed in a pandemic, you will be caring for your own more than likely. Make sure you have adequate first-aid, hygiene and medical supplies like latex or non-latex gloves, medicines, hand sanitizer, soaps and if possible antiviral medication like Tami-flu.I don’t mean to overstate the urgency, but I think the worst kind of disaster, aside from a radioactive disaster, would be a viral pandemic. It is worse than an earthquake, hurricane, tornado or any other type of natural disaster. So, make sure you are getting prepared as best you can.

WAKE UP AMERICA

You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door. Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun. You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it. In the darkness, you make out two shadows.
One holds something that looks like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire. The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.
In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless. Yours was never registered.Police arrive and inform you that the second burglar has died.They arrest you for First Degree Murder and illegal Possession of a Firearm. When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter.
"What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.
"Only ten-to-twelve years," he replies, as if that's nothing. "Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."
The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper. Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys. Their friends and relatives can't find an unkind word to say about them. Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times.But the next day's headline says it all: "Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die." The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters.As the days wear on, the story takes wings.The national media picks it up, then the international media.The surviving burglar has become a folk hero.
Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probably win. The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack of effort in apprehending the suspects. After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time. The District Attorney uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the burglars.
A few months later, you go to trial. The charges haven't been reduced, as your lawyer had so confidently predicted. When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against you. Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man. It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges. The judge sentences you to life in prison.
This case happened.
On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk, England, killed one burglar and wounded a second. In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term.
How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire ?
It started with the Pistols Act of 1903. This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license.The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms except shotguns.
Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.
Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerford mass shooting in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw. When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead.
The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun control", demanded even tougher restrictions. (The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.)
Nine years later, at Dunblane, Scotland, Thomas Hamilton used a semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public school.
For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstable, or worse, criminals.
Now the press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding gun owners. Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns. The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearm still owned by private citizens.
During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism. Authorities refused to grant gun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun. Citizens who shot burglars or robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released.
Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying, "We cannot have people take the law into their own hands." All of Martin's neighbors had been robbed numerous times, and several elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had no fear of the consequences. Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seen most of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars.
When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were given three months to turn them over to local authorities.Being good British subjects, most people obeyed the law. The few who didn't were visited by police and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn't comply. Police later bragged that they'd taken nearly 200,000 handguns from private citizens..
How did the authorities know who had handguns? The guns had been registered and licensed. Kinda like cars.

Emergency Preparedness Primer Sometimes it is good to just have a brief refresher of a few topics. One of our product experts wrote this up and I thought it was very good. Enjoy!
WARMTH & SHELTER: In extreme conditions, an individual will survive only about three hours without any protection from the elements. If you don’t have adequate shelter, you won’t have a chance to get thirsty or hungry before you start to suffer from hypothermia or extreme heat exposure. Shelter is anything that protects a person from his environment (including dangerous cold and heat) and allows restful sleep. It’s recommended to always keep up-to-date clothes and a compact tent in your 72-hr-kit.
WATER & HYDRATION: According to the Red Cross, your body can only survive three days without access to water in extreme conditions. This is assuming you’re at sea level, room temperature, with relatively favorable humidity. In colder or warmer temperatures, the need for water is greater. (Need for water also increases with exertion.) A lack of water causes dehydration, which may result in lethargy, headaches, dizziness, confusion, and eventually death. Even mild dehydration reduces endurance and impairs concentration, which is dangerous in a survival situation where clear thinking is essential. We recommend that you have at least 3 different ways to access water. Large barrels, 50 gallons or greater, can store a large amount of water, but are obviously not portable since fully loaded they can weigh over 400 lbs. You need portable water containers in case you need to evacuate your house, like the 5 gallon stackable water containers. You also need a way to purify water if you have access to a supply, but it is unsafe to drink.
FOOD & NUTRITION: Depending on the conditions of your environment and level of activity, an individual can survive about three weeks without food. In extreme cold the lack of food can be dangerous, and in other situations, (like gradual dehydration), hunger can bring about many consequences long before it causes death. These problems can include irritability and low morale, weakness, loss of mental clarity, poor judgment, weakened immune system, and increased difficulty maintaining body temperature.
SANITATION & HYGIENE: During periods of emergency or disaster, sanitation levels can deteriorate rapidly and disease can spread and even cause death in a matter of days. Maintaining good hygiene will prevent disease and illness from spreading. You will need a way to use the bathroom, a way to keep your living environment clean, and a way to keep your hands, mouth, and body clean.
FIRST AID: First aid can help a person survive and function with injuries and illnesses that would otherwise kill or cripple him/her. It’s important to have a first aid kit in almost any emergency situation to treat any type of trauma like lacerations, which may become infected, bites or stings from venomous animals, bites leading to disease, infection through food, animal contact, or drinking contaminated water, bone fractures, sprains, burns, poisoning from consumption of, or contact with, poisonous plants or fungi.
TOOLS: In an emergency or disaster situation, tools and supplies are not one of the most basic essentials, but they can greatly increase your ability to effectively provide for yourself and others in an emergency situation. A pocket knife, a shovel, some pliers, or a compass could greatly improve your chances of survival if one finds themself in a fleeing situation.
LIGHT & COMMUNICATION: As with tools, light and communication are not essential to your immediate survival, but they are invaluable tools in helping to protect yourself from greater danger and assisting you in acquiring safer and more stable living conditions.

After reviewing acknowledgments of God from all 50 state constitutions, one is faced with the prospect that maybe, the ACLU and the out-of-control federal courts are wrong! If you found this to be 'Food for thought' send to as many as you think will be enlightened as I hope you were.

Arrogant Americans, Mr. President?Peter Heck - Guest Columnist - 4/14/2009 7:50:00 AM As I was sitting in church waiting for the start of the service, my grandpa came walking towards me pointing his finger. No matter how old I get, and no matter how long he’s been out of the U..S. Navy, that’s still an intimidating sight. As he approached me, his voice quivered as he said, “We saved that continent twice....how dare my president apologize for this country’s arrogance.” My grandpa is right. Americans need not apologize to the world for their arrogance; rather, Americans should apologize to their forefathers for the arrogance of their president. Barack Obama’s first foreign trip as President of the United States has confirmed the naiveté so many of us feared during the election cycle.. But worse than that, it has also demonstrated that our president suffers from either a complete misunderstanding of our heritage and history, or an utter contempt for it. Neither is excusable. Garnering cheers from the French of all people, President Obama declared, “In America, there is a failure to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.” Consider that Obama spoke these words just 500 miles from the beaches of Normandy, where the sand is still stained with 65-year-old blood of “arrogant Americans.” Indeed, columnist Mark Whittington observes, “One should remind Mr. Obama and the Europeans how America has ‘shown arrogance’ by saving Europe from itself innumerable times in the 20th Century. World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and the wars in the Balkans were largely resolved by American blood, treasure, and leadership.” But all that appears lost on the president’s seemingly insatiable quest to mend fences he imagines have been tarnished by the bullish George W. Bush. If Obama wishes to continue trampling the presidential tradition of showing class to former office holders and publicly trash Bush for his own personal gain, so be it. But all Americans should make clear that no man – even if he is the president – will tarnish the legacy of those Americans who have gone before us. Ours is not a history of arrogance. It is a history of courage, self-sacrifice, and honor. When abusive monarchs repressed the masses, Americans resisted and overthrew them. When misguided policies led to the unjust oppression of fellow citizens, Americans rebelled and overturned them. When millions of impoverished and destitute wretches sought a new beginning, Americans threw open the door and welcomed them. When imperial dictators were on the march, Americans surrendered their lives to stop them. When communist thugs threatened world peace, Americans bled to defeat them. When an entire continent was overwhelmed with famine and hunger, Americans gave of themselves to sustain it. When terrorist madmen killed the innocent and subjugated millions, Americans led the fight to topple them. This is the legacy that generations of Americans have left. If President Obama seeks stronger relations with the world community, perhaps he should begin by reminding them of these very truths, rather than condemning his own countrymen on foreign shores. This “obsessive need to put down his own country,” has caused blogger James Lewis to call President Obama a “stunningly ignorant man” who has evidently never spoken to a concentration camp survivor, a Cuban refugee, a boat person from Vietnam, a Soviet dissident, or a survivor of Mao’s purges. Unfortunately, I can no longer bring myself to give Mr. Obama that benefit of the doubt. Not after looking at the pain in my grandpa’s eyes...a man who still carries shrapnel in his body from his service to this country. As a student and teacher of history, I recognize that America has made mistakes...plenty of them, in fact. But one of the great things about our people has been their courage and humility in admitting and correcting those mistakes. God willing, they will prove that willingness again in four years and correct the mistake that is the presidency of Barack Obama.
